Since our last newsletter in the Spring we performed two very successful concerts, the first in June called Folk Traditions and the second in November called Threshold – Spirituality in Choral Music.  We are clearly building a loyal and growing audience who are helping us to fill the venues we use in Horsham, namely St John’s Catholic Church Hall and the Barn in the Causeway this year. In just a few weeks we will be performing our traditional Christmas programme (Saturday 16th December) which will again be at the Barn in the Causeway. Our Music Director Timothy Peters has continued to challenge us with new music, but with a bit of additional homework we are meeting his high expectations of us! He has a very carefully planned programming model which ensures that we are able to do justice to the more challenging pieces he has selected by the time we perform them. At our AGM in October Timothy stressed that trust is a particular strength in this choir, and we have strong leaders in each section. 

During the year we have been able to attract a number of new members who have helped us to improve our overall balance and a make a more rounded sound. In the summer Liz Yeats, who has been our highly effective Concert Manager for an incredible 33 years, stepped down and her role was taken over by Nola Gyles, who has already made a valuable contribution by attracting sponsorship from Toovey’s Auctioneers. 

Another important change in our management was the appointment of Lisa Quas as our new Chair, following the decision by her predecessor Peter Hooper to step down after 10 years. We are very grateful for the enthusiastic and wise leadership that Peter has contributed to the Choir during his tenure. We will be posting more about Lisa soon.

We now have 37 members and with continuing investment in our website and social media content, we are set to spread our passion and enthusiasm for choral music around Horsham in 2024. Details of our concerts next year are already on our website.
